The indigenous red maple tree was donated by Cornel University Cooperative Extension which aims to improve New York State communities through partnerships and university-based research in the areas including: agriculture and food systems, community and economic vitalization, energy and sustainability, environment and natural resources, family systems and youth development
Students who helped lead the tree planting ceremony said, “Thank you Cornell Cooperative Extension for this beautiful tree. It is here to help shade our library for the years to come.” They added, “We would also like to thank Bob Simpson for initiating this program so that we can plant beautiful trees and help save the environment.”
Many thanks to Enrichment Teacher Janet Goldberg, Principal Lori Nimmo and the faculty and staff at Glen Head for initiating such an exciting event.
