North Shore School District welcomes Albert Cousins who was appointed
by the Board of Education as Principal of North Shore High School.
North Shore Schools is pleased to announce that the Board of Education has appointed Mr. Albert Cousins as the next Principal of North Shore High School. Mr. Cousins served previously as the Director of Social Studies at North Shore, working cohesively with both students and faculty since 2007.
As a Social Studies teacher, Mr. Cousins said, “There is nothing more rewarding than seeing real growth in students or hearing them be curious about the world around them. I greatly valued and aimed to foster students' imagination and creativity, especially in relation to problem solving.” He added, “I admire and appreciate creative solutions, compromise and selflessness.”
Mr. Cousins received his M.S. Ed. from SUNY College at Buffalo and completed coursework for his Ed.D. at Teachers College, Columbia University. He came to the area in pursuit of a doctorate after teaching in a large public school district in western New York. He stated, “As a graduate student at Teachers College, I began to further develop my desire to work closely with teachers around the central idea of better learning experiences for students.” He is still enrolled as a doctoral candidate in the area of Curriculum and Teacher with a concentration in School Leadership and Change.

“I am sincerely excited to be taking on this new challenge,” exclaimed Mr. Cousins. “Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of working with excellent teachers and administrators in the district while interacting with many of the students and families of the community. One of my primary goals as principal is to ensure that each high school student is known well by his or her teachers, the staff, as well as the administration.” He added, “It is imperative that we recognize the importance of listening and being responsive to students while keeping our focus on developing their greatest potential for success in the future. North Shore Schools is a place where students are encouraged to ask questions, have great ideas, and feel supported while striving toward their own personal best.”
North Shore High School also welcomes Ms. Jennifer Imperiale and Mr. Kevin Kurrus as the new Assistant Principals. Ms. Imperiale has been at North Shore for several years, most recently as one of the high school Dean of Students. Mr. Kurrus joins the high school team after serving in the same capacity at North Shore Middle School.
Principal Cousins concluded by saying, “Collectively, the new administration at the high school values communication and welcomes it. Similarly, above all we want students to be fully engaged in their high school experience.” In closing, Mr. Cousins shared, “The high school team wants the community to know that our doors are always open for students, teachers, and parents.”
