Parents and pajama-clad children celebrated their love of reading "In the Night Library" at Sea Cliff Elementary School. After the poem, The Dream Keeperby Langston Hughes, was read aloud to welcome all, parents and children listened to the book Odd Velvet by Mary E. Whitcomb. (comt. below)
Focusing on the ideas of acceptance and tolerance as part of the North Shore Schools’ district-wide cultural proficiency initiative, children, parents and teachers shared their ideas in discussion groups. A beautiful mural was created as students related their own family stories of how they were named. Plans for the next "In the Night Library" are in the works.
Many thanks to the following faculty and administrators who helped orchestrate or participate in the "In the Night Library" events at Sea Cliff Elementary School including Elyse Kushel, Mojdeh Hassani, JoAnn Miller, Adam Frankel, Kerry Robertson, Joan Neugeborn and Diane Krupin. Additionally, much appreciation goes out to the SC PCA who provided homemade cookies for the students to take home.
