At the closing ceremony, fifth graders welcomed everyone in attendance and hosted a number of activities including: a performance by the CREW Cheerleaders, a song titled by the entire Kindergarten class, a presentation of the reading awards, and a number of poetry performances by students including a choral reading by the second grade, photo essays by the third and fifth grades, a poem signed by the first grade and poetry in motion by the fourth grade. Additionally, the Poetry Bear made an appearance to the student’s delight!
Additionally, beautiful Poetry Trees were displayed in the library symbolizing the number of books read by Glenwood Landing students. Different color trees represented each of the individual grades. Many thanks go out to teachers Maria Saccardi, Harriet Arnold and Robyn Hoefling who spearheaded this event with the help of Kathy Hilpl and the CREW committee who were integral in the success of this event.
