On October 7th, seniors Alex Steinman and Dominique Troy hosted an AIDS benefit concert featuring the pop/rock band, “This Century.”Alex Steinman and Dominique Troy lead the AIDS Peer Educators at North Shore High School. The benefit concert raised over $300 for the Keep A Child Alive organization, which provides life saving treatment and support to those who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
“This Century” played a number of songs to the enthusiastic crowd, including “To Love and Back,” “Battling a Heavy Heart,” “No Way Out,” and “Want You” off of their latest CD. Additionally, an acoustic set was performed exclusively for North Shore High School students, with half of the proceeds from the concert going to the organization.
“Our goal is to provide the treatment needed for those affected with HIV/AIDS and to educate our peers and community about this disease that kills so many people everyday,” said Senior Alex Steinman. “We were thrilled with the turn out and hope that our future fundraisers are just as successful!”
During the week of November 30th, leading up to World AIDS day on December 1st, Alex and Dominique will be orchestrating another fundraising opportunity by selling wristbands featuring the word, ALIVE. They hope to further spread awareness about HIV/AIDS to our community. For more information about Alex and Dominique’s mission, please visit their website at www.ADKeepaChildAlive.weebly.com.
