Interact Club Raises Over $2,000 for Water Project

October 4th 2009 was a busy day in Sea Cliff. Vendor stands were set up with many eager community members shopping at the annual minimart.  For the second consecutive year the sizzling sound of deep fry and cheerful chatter of students drew shoppers to the minimart’s zeppole stand.

The zeppole stand was set up by the Interact Club of North Shore High School, a community service club founded last year. For the past two years, the zeppole stand has been set up in the minimart, raising money for the Water Project, which is a fundraising effort to create a well for a Haitian Village. All money raised at the zeppole stand, which totaled over $4,000 the past two years, will be donated to the Water Project. The Interact Club has raised close to $8,000 dollars in total for the Water Project.

The dough to make the zeppoles was provided by the Glen Head Rotary International Club, the parent organization of Interact. The students who came to help out on October 4th were officers, long standing members and newcomers. Volunteering students worked hard to provide zeppoles to the pastry-hungry people of the minimart. Despite many students who came to help out, the zeppole stand was always busy! Thank you North Shore students and community members for making this year’s zeppole stand a huge success.
 
This year the Interact club will be working to fundraise for The Gift of Life, a charity that brings a child with a heart condition from a third world country to the United States to receive much needed medical procedures.
