“Coats for Kids” at North Shore Schools:
2009 “Coats for Kids” Award Presented to Victoria Carter:
North Shore Schools is proud to announce that Victoria Carter was recently presented with the 2009 “Coats for Kids” award by Mr. Arthur Epstein, Chairman. For the past four years, Victoria has collected over 200 coats for those less fortunate than herself. All of those at North Shore Schools congratulate Victoria on her devotion to community service and for volunteering since the middle school for this wonderful cause. The award ceremony was held at the Mineola Village Hall.

This year, Victoria will continue her gallant efforts. She said, “For many years, I have held a coat drive in the fall in the middle school and then the high school. These have been very successful. This year, I am hoping to expand the collection from just one school to all of the schools in the district with the help of Ms. Julia Salat.” The coat drive will last until Thanksgiving break. A labeled box will be placed in the front hallway of each North Shore school. On Fridays, the boxes will be emptied to make room for the additional donated coats.
“The organization that the coats will go to is the National Cleaner’s Association’s “Coats for Kids,” said Victoria. She concluded with, “The coats are cleaned at Randi’s Cleaners in Mineola by Mr. Arthur Epstein, the Chairman of Coats for Kids. They are then distributed to the people of Nassau County in need of a winter coat. This charity is very close to my heart and I thank you for helping me support this important cause.”
