At the end of the school year, fifth graders at Glen Head Elementary displayed artwork inspired by Pablo Picasso, Norman Rockwell and Vincent Van Gogh under the direction of Art Teacher Lisa Giurlanda.
Students demonstrated their mastery of skill by creating a ceramic box that revealed an important theme in their life today which included a portrait series inspired by Pablo Picasso's realistic, abstract and cubist styles. Additionally, they exhibited printmaking collographs that defined "Liberty" and linear landscapes inspired by artist Vincent Van Gogh.
This exhibit was a culmination of the fifth grade art studies that took place throughout the year. Ms. Lisa Giurlanda said, “I am very proud of our fifth grade artists and all of their hard work, dedication and creativity that was displayed in the art show.” She concluded by saying, “Their understanding of the big ideas, mastery of skill, and knowledge of concepts was clearly demonstrated in their artwork.”
