During “In the Night Library”
Photos by Shelly Newman

Pajama-clad kindergarten and first grade children and their parents celebrated their love of reading "In the Night Library" at Sea Cliff School. The book, One by Kathryn Otoshi, which focuses on tolerance, acceptance and the importance of standing up for someone else, was read aloud. Parents, children and teachers shared their ideas in discussion groups led by Sea Cliff School librarian, kindergarten and first grade teachers, special education teacher, and the Sea Cliff Village Library's children's librarian, Ann DiPietro. Participants included: Elyse Kushel, librarian and teachers Mojdeh Hassani, JoAnn Miller, Therese Goetz, Erin Morley, Arlene Roberts, Jen Mazur, Eileen Jordan and Principal Adam Frankel and Sea Cliff Village Library's children's librarian Ann DiPietro. Delicious homemade treats were baked by the SC PCA.

Students were asked to think of a time they made a difference as they created a beautiful mural in response to the book. It was a wonderful evening that brought the Sea Cliff community together. Additionally, this library evening is one of the many activities and events that is part of the district-wide “Respecting Each Other as Equal and Different” initiative at the North Shore Schools.
