NS Middle School Welcomes Trecia Wong as Assistant Principal
The North Shore School District is happy to welcome Mrs. Trecia Wong to the middle school family as Assistant Principal.  Over 290 candidates applied, fifty-two were initially interviewed, and seven finalists met with three separate committees of parents, teachers, and administrators. Mrs. Wong was chosen as the best candidate for the position and approved by the Board of Education on July 22, 2010.
Mrs. Wong said, “It is with great enthusiasm that I am joining the North Shore School District. For the past 12 years, I have worked as a Mathematics Teacher/Team Leader at the high school and middle school level; and seven of those years were spent in the Glen Cove School District at Robert M. Finley Middle School.  In addition, my post graduate coursework and subsequent high level professional development have equipped me to be a strong instructional and collaborative leader.”

Principal Marc Ferris stated, “We were looking for someone with outstanding interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of quality instruction, and an unequivocal belief that our role as educators is to do whatever it takes to support all students in learning.  In each stage of the interview process, Ms. Wong met or exceeded those expectations, proving that she will be an excellent match for our school community.”

Mrs. Wong communicated, “My interest in being the Assistant Principal at North Shore Middle school is driven by my sincere desire to be part of a school community whose rigorous academic curriculum and use of technology empowers both students and teachers in the pursuit of learning. I am committed to being an active and supportive member in this community, while maintaining a positive, safe and child-centered school environment that compliments student achievement and effective teaching.” 

Mr. Ferris added, “She brings with her an outstanding teaching record, great energy, and a passion for working with young adolescent children.  This is exactly what our students, teachers, and parents were looking for when we set out to find a new assistant principal.”
 
Assistant Principal Wong concluded with, “Importantly, we will work collaboratively in developing our students’ knowledge and abilities that will be imperative in the future. I look forward to meeting you and your children. Welcome to the beginning of a bright and prosperous school year.
