Recently, second graders had a special visit from the Sea Cliff Mayor, Bruce Kennedy. As part of their social studies learning, Mayor Kennedy explained his role and the many, many responsibilities associated with his position. The students were then able to ask numerous thought provoking questions including: “What is the most difficult part of your job?”, “How many years is your term?”, “Why did you want to become Mayor of Sea Cliff?” “Do you get time off to take a vacation?” and “Do you want to run again for Mayor?”
Many thanks to Mayor Kennedy for taking time out of his busy schedule to educate our students on his important position, government, and how the Village of Sea Cliff operates. Additionally, bravo to the second graders for being such a receptive audience, utilizing their critical thinking skills, and having the courage to ask such difficult questions.
