On November 22nd, just a few days before Thanksgiving, the numerous E3 activities included: Character Education Development emphasizing “Being a Hero in School,” a walk-a-thon and football games to support Wounded Warriors, a dance-a-thon which lasted over two hours for the Diamond Fund, a math-a-thon where over 1,452 math problems were solved to support St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, singing to seniors at the Glen Cove Senior Center, working with elementary students at Sea Cliff Elementary School, planting bulbs in front of the middle school to support beautification, baking over 200 cookies for community members and donating time at the North Shore INN in Glen Cove, CPR training to “Help save a life,” a letter writing campaign for 5th graders to ease their fears prior to entering middle school, “Read to Feed” to raise money by reading for Heifer International, “Raking a Difference” to help rake leaves for seniors in the community, scarf-making to keep our troops warm, and an obstacle course to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In one day, the students and faculty not only whole-heartedly participated in these meaningful activities but North Shore Middle School collectively raised close to $10,000 dollars for all of these wonderful causes. Additionally, the middle school set a school record for boxes of canned goods collected to feed those less fortunate. To conclude, everyone gathered in the gymnasium for a school-wide assembly filled with original music and joy in celebration of E3 Day!
Principal Marc Ferris said, “We should be very proud of all of our students. Thank you for being an amazing community full of AMAZING children. I feel so lucky to work with such an amazing group of kids, teachers and parents!”
