Mr. Hall continued by saying, “If the weather continues to cooperate, and there are no unforeseen delays, we expect to have the entire track and field project (except for the Traction Protraxx track surfacing) completed by the end of December-early January.” Upon completion, the track & field area will be inspected and turned over to the school for use. In April –May 2012 the contractor will return to install the new track surface and complete the entire project. The track & field area will be closed during this process. The public will be informed in advance.
Additionally, the field toilet building bids were opened and the lowest bidder was accepted. The Board of Education will approve the lowest bid on December 1, 2011. Mr. Hall said, “Upon approval, the construction process will begin. Materials will be approved and ordered now and stored on site in the coming months. Actual construction of the building will not begin until after the 2012 Spring Athletics Program concludes in June of 2012.” He concluded by saying, “This decision was made to allow the Spring Athletics Program to utilize all of the high school fields without interruption. Once construction begins, it will continue (weather permitting) throughout the remainder of June 2012 and the entire summer. We hope to have the facility completed by September 2012 and full use of the track, field, and Field Toilet building commencing in September of 2012.”
Please Note: During the construction of the field toilet building, the natural turf soccer field and softball field will be impacted by the installation of the sanitary system for the new building. This area will remain off limits to the public and the sports teams until spring of 2013. This will allow the natural turf to grow and establish before the space is used. The athletic director is aware of this disruption and will make full use of the new synthetic field to compensate.
