GH STUDENTS CELEBRATE THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
GH Students “Chalk the Walk”
On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, Glen Head School celebrated the International Day of Peace, often known as “Peace One Day.” To commemorate this special occasion, students in every class had the opportunity to “Chalk the Walk” or create sidewalk works of art by writing messages of peace on all of the walkways and blacktop outside Glen Head School
“Chalk the Walk” is a project of The Joy Team, a group dedicated to spreading joy, optimism, and inspiration. The Joy Team’s mission is to build community through the power of positive words.
Janet Goldberg, Glen Head School-wide Enrichment Teacher said, “Our students worked together to communicate messages of kindness and compassion, hope and inspiration. Through this work, they demonstrated their commitment to others and their dedication to making our school and community a more peaceful, loving place. On the sidewalks and black top, students saw the power of their words and experienced the strength of collaboration.”
