The second annual Glenwood Landing School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts Music) Night was celebrated in March 2018. The evening combined not only exciting student created STEAM projects in the gym, but added numerous teacher and parent-volunteer STEAM workshops in the classrooms including a Red Carpet Runway Challenge, Slime Challenge, Laser Light Challenge, and Robot Challenge. Glenwood Landing kindergartens through 5th grade students were asked to be accompanied by a parent to participate. Additionally, in the gymnasium, there was a demonstration by the North Shore High School Robotics team.
After the workshops, families and students were encouraged to walk around the gym to appreciate the amazing STEAM projects created by the students of Glenwood Landing. The presentations and ribbon awards took place earlier in the day. Some of the wonderful hands-on, original, and educational STEAM projects included Why Does It Rain? Flower Power, Cool Candy Chemistry, Gearing Up!, What Causes Waves?, Squishy Circuits, Gravity, Lights On, HydroDynamics, Planets, How Do Animals Fly?, Projection from Sun’s Energy, Exercise and Memory, Ectonic Plates, The Perfect Bounce, and The Holographic Movie.
This special STEAM interdisciplinary culmination was the second time that students the Robotics Team at the high school joined the children of Glenwood Landing during this special night of STEAM activities. Throughout the building, so many STEAM activities and workshops were available for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
