Board of Education,
President
Carolyn Mazzu Genovesi, Esq.
President and an alumna of the North Shore Schools, was elected to the board in 2004. Carolyn is a lawyer who works for the State Court System in the Appellate Division Second Department. She stated, “One of my goals as President is to communicate clearly with the North Shore community as we begin to make the difficult financial choices necessary in these coming years.”
"Tax cap legislation has already begun to take away the communities local control in choosing the type of schools we wish to provide. It will be imperative to try and fashion a new approach that still reflects our local values. As the State continues to impose laws and regulations on school districts without essential mandate relief, we will be forced to cut positions which will increase class size and eliminate programing.” |
Qualifications/Committees: Serves on Legislative Action Committee, Coordinating Council, Audit Committee, and alternate for all of Audit Sub-Committees.
As an alumna of the North Shore Schools who has lived in Glen Head for over 40 years, Carolyn believes that the community has the ability to meet the challenge of how we can provide the kind of education our students need for the 21st Century with limited resources. She and her husband Anthony have three children; Marielle, a 2011 graduate of North Shore who is a freshman in college, Bennett a North Shore High School Junior and A. Christian, a sixth grader at North Shore Middle School.
