Dear Glen Head Parents:

Although the weather is still cool outside, things are heating up at Glen Head School. March will be filled with many events and activities for our students, faculty and families including:

Reading Celebration
March 6th will begin our month long “Reading Celebration” with the theme, “Wild about Reading.” There will be an Opening Celebration to kick off the festivities and a closing ceremony that will include an entertaining skit performed by our very talented staff. Author Brian Heinz will be visiting on March 17th. The annual Book Fair organized by our PTO will take place in the library during the month and we will be monitoring the amount of time spent reading by each class. Additionally, a number of guest readers will visit and engage our students in their favorite books and personal stories.

The Brain Show
But, that is only the beginning! “The Brain Show” will take place on March 9th where all students in grades 2-5 will participate.

New York State Math Assessments

During the week of March 2nd, students in Grades 3-5 will complete the NYS Math assessments. Make-ups will be administered during the week of March 9th.

Kindergarten Orientation
On March 16th, our kindergarten orientation program begins. Children and parents are invited to join us for “Story time with the Principal” and some special activities led by our kindergarten teachers.

Community Service Club
On March 18th, the Glen Head Community Service Club will be hosting a “Little Doctor’s” blood drive. All are welcome to support our efforts by donating blood.

Science Expo
To conclude the month, all of our students and families are invited to participate in our Science Expo on March 28th.
