North Shore Legislative Night, Thursday, January 18, at Glenwood Landing School Theatre, 7-9 PM
Please mark your calendars! The North Shore Legislative Night will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 7-9 PM, at Glenwood Landing School Theatre. This event is hosted by the Legislative Action Committee (LAC), a citizen’s advisory committee of the North Shore Board of Education. The snow date is February 1, 2018.
Residents will have an opportunity to hear from their elected officials on issues that are relevant to the district and the community. Legislators will present brief introductory remarks and then participate in a Q&A session. The invited legislators include Senator Carl Marcellino, Senator Elaine Phillips, Assemblyman Charles Lavine, Assemblyman Edward Ra, Assemblyman Michael Montesano, Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi Whitton, and Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan.
Potential topics are the opioid crisis, APPR and teacher evaluations, State aid and foundation aid, the NY State tax cap and its effect on public education, unfunded mandates, PILOTS and their effect on school budgets, and New York American Water.
