Hello Sea Cliff Families,
Did you know that current Sea Cliff School building opened 100 years ago? “The Sea Cliff public school system began in 1883 with a four-room, brick, grade school building on Franklin Avenue. In 1912, the old building was torn down, and the present building was erected on Carpenter Avenue. This building, which underwent a large renovation in 2002, now houses the Sea Cliff Elementary School (grades k-5), which is part of North Shore School District.”
To commemorate, our students have been exploring how things change over time. Examining artifacts, researching and asking questions are ways in which we gain a deeper understanding of the world. Our centennial is an opportunity to bridge the history of the school with the future of the community. We want to document the experiences of alumni who attended Sea Cliff School through the years.
We are interested in hearing from alumni through their stories. We will interview about 20 alumni here at school. Classroom teachers are working with students to conduct interviews that will be recorded and compiled for the next generation of Sea Cliff students. Knowing that we cannot interview everyone, we are eager to hear from any alumni who want to share a personal story about their time at Sea Cliff. Written stories, photographs, or artifacts can be sent to the school for us to display at

If you, or someone you know, are interested in being interviewed, please contact me at frankela@northshoreschools.org. Please put 100th Anniversary in the subject area and include your full name, contact information (phone number and/or email) and years you attended Sea Cliff School by May 20, 2012. Please put your contact information on the back of any materials that you send in so we can return it to you.
We are very excited about the 100th Anniversary and discovering the history of our school.
Sincerely,
Adam Frankel
