DISTRICTWIDE "NO PLASTIC" LUNCH DAY
Last Friday 4/25, to coincide with Earth Day, the North Shore Food Service Department in collaboration with the Coalition to Save Hempstead Harbor participated in "Plastic-free" lunch day. Finger foods including pizza slices and veggies sticks were the star of the day!
Plastic bottles of water and other beverages were replaced at all five North Shore Schools with cardboard cartons and/or aluminum bottles filled with water. Students along with faculty and staff purchased them while others used their hydro flasks or sustainable bottles.
If anyone needed a fork or spoon, no problem! The North Shore Food Service Department had plant-based utensils available.
Thank you to Mr. Alan Levin and the entire Food Service Department districtwide for continuing the "No Plastic" lunch time effort! Go Vikings Go!
What can you do at home to reduce your plastic consumption?
