Elementary Students Wear Orange for Unity Day
On October 15th, K-5 students at all three North Shore Elementary Schools participated in Unity Day by wearing orange and engaging in classroom discussions on empathy, kindness, acceptance, and anti-bullying. Unity Day is a signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month in October.
Elementary Counselor Ms. Rachel Samlin said, “Students in all three elementary schools made orange unity chains that served as a daily reminder for the school community to remember to be kind and inclusive. Students wrote positive messages on each paper link and explained why they wear orange and need to stand up to bullying.”
Anti-bullying themes are often reiterated across the North Shore School District, but during the month of October students around the country are particularly encouraged to be kind to one another, be tolerant and accepting of everyone’s differences, and reach out to their peers to let them know that they are not alone.
Many thanks to the Counseling Department, SWES teachers, Principal Megan McCormack, faculty, and staff for providing a caring environment at Sea Cliff School. Go Vikings Go!
