NORTH SHORE HS RANKED #11 in NY STATE & #2 on LONG ISLAND By US News & World Report
The North Shore School District is proud to announce that North Shore Senior High School was ranked 11th within New York, and #2 on Long Island (#2 in Nassau County) based on reporting by US News & World Report. The article stated, “Students have the opportunity to take International Baccalaureate coursework and exams. The IB participation rate at North Shore Senior High School is 60%, and the 12th grade enrollment is 193 students. Additionally, 14% of students in the school are economically disadvantaged.”
Dr. Carol Ann Smyth, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction said, “We are incredibly grateful for our students, families, faculty, staff, and administrators, whose dedication and hard work make it possible to provide a student-centered education for every child at North Shore. This recognition is something our entire community can celebrate, while remembering that no single measure defines a student’s success or our success as a school community. We believe in multiple measures of achievement, including academic growth, intellectual curiosity, creativity, perseverance, engagement, and each student’s ability to discover and pursue their strengths and passions. We are proud of this recognition, but even more proud of North Shore’s collective commitment to ensuring that every student is known, supported, and challenged.”

Mr. Eric Contreras, North Shore HS Principal stated, “Over the past five years we have experienced growing numbers of students taking both AP and IB exams. This is the result of the hard and innovative work of our teachers, counselors, directors, and the district’s strategic growth of programs and courses. Our students take on a variety of
challenging and engaging experiences to prepare them for college and careers beyond North Shore High School. We are proud of our students and grateful to the entire Viking Community that supports them.
